Safe mode startup problems in thinkpad edge?

Hey there, I'm having problems starting my safe mode in windows 7 for my lenovo thinkpad edge... I try hitting the f8 key and it doesn't work. In the start up it says if I click enter it will interrupt the startup so I do and then it takes me to a page that gives me three options, to escape it, f1 for the BIOS setup utility and f12 with is to choose a temp start up device. I can't find safe mode anywhere!

Hi, G C is right. It is the ongoing expense that you need to consider. Research first It is ok to want to be independent. but when you do leave, try not to leave on a bad note. Watch out for room mate situations.I would nt get involved in one. My kids tried that and ended up coming back home (they left on good terms) because the room mate ended up free loading and not paying their share. (AND this was a great friend that had a job). go figure. That is why its best to make sure you can swing it alone. Look at newspaper ads in areas you want to live. Ask. Contact a rental agency. If you do not have a credit history, they may not give u an apartment so prepare for that. But if some one does, they will want to know you have a way to pay. Then contact your utility companies. (phone, cable , internet, electric, etc . and ask them what the average cost would be for the amount you might use. (a way to save is if you already have a wireless lap top and go to places that have wi fi,, use the desktop at the library, just use ur cell phone not a land line, do with out tv, decide what you can really scrape by with out. as these things u may have taken for granted all cost money. Then of course food, cosmetics, cleaning products, etc Try to get an apartment that has heat included in the rent. Then consider how stable your job situation is. What if you got laid off of your job.? Would it be ok to return home? (thats why I say try to leave on good terms.) also will you need transportation ? do you own a car? consider insurance and repairs, etc... CAREFULLY write out a budget with EVERYTHING in it that you might need.. I know around my way a one bedroom heated goes for around 850- 950 a month. So it could well cost you around 2 thousand a month to live, easily. Dont plan on having a pet (extra expense) for food and vet bills, and dont let friends think they can come and eat your food , etc.. you will need every penny you have for your own expenses. and of course if you get sick (hope not) and have to stay out of work will you get paid? What if you go over your sick time? Also apartments usually want first and last months rent up front and some want a security deposit of perhaps 300 -500 dollars in case you break or damage something... SO its not easy thats why some may try to encourage you not to do it for awhile... Again if you do just dont leave in anger and have a back up plan if you run into trouble or your land lord asks you to move in case he or she needs the apartment for their own family member, sell the place and the new owner tells you you have to leave cuz he wants it for his own family. or raises the rent... ask how often rent increases are allowed under law, call your zoning board or town hall to find the right department.. its like tenants rights or something... so see there is a lot to it.. If I re-format my Vista boot drive how can I transfer 3 years of MS Updates to it without downloading?

I wish to completely re-format my hard drive and re-install the Vista system files - a factory reset - which I have no problem doing. I have an Acer Aspire 7720g laptop with the Acer Recovery Management utility which I wish to use. The only trouble is I purchased this laptop in Jan. 2008 so I have 3.5 years of Microsoft updates to upload. From age six until i was thirteen, my aunt use to be my babysitter. Sad though it is...it is also the truth. More than likely the unit is a illegal apartment and not zoned for two. It would have been better for the landlord to include the utilities and charge you more rent than to have lied to you. Yes, it seems you may have grounds to break the lease. If you attempt to do so you could sue the landlord for your moving expenses and any other expenses incurred in finding a new place. Consult an attorney abut the lease or just go to landlord and tenant's court if the landlord will not give you a written release, refund your deposit, and pay your moving expenses.

well, I guess you can go to all the internet providers in your area and destroy their servers. but I'm sure they'll have thing up and running again in a couple of days so unless you bomb every internet provider building in the area, there's not much you can do. but to turn it off in your house, just turn off the router, or unplug the ethernet cable. or if it's a laptop with built in wifi, you can turn off the wifi by flipping the switch or pressing ctrl f8. or simply get rid of the computers in your house.

I don't remember my XP needing multiple partitions. I don't think that there is a benefit at all. i'm sure all it does is create a c: drive and a d: drive. the c drive will probably have XP and the D drive can be used for other things such as, games, programs, files, etc. its jsut a way of staying organized.

Ok, about a week ago I bought the sims 3 on ps3 from my friend. I took it home and tried to play it. It got me to download a DLC and updates patch. So I downloaded it then it said it had to install the DLC/Updates and write game data. So I was installing it, then it got to an overall percent of 20 and a file percent of 45 and froze up for about 6 minutes. Then it skipped to overall percent of 100 and a file percent of 100 and froze again. Only this time it stayed frozen. So I left it on all night trying to get it to work and when I came back in the morning it still was frozen at 100 percent. So I turned it off and looked at my saved data utility and found out that the install data for the DLC and updates took up 1080 megabites. So I went to my friends house and looked at his saved data utility and found out that it was 4,500 megabites. So I tried to install it again and it didnt work. But it works fine when ever I play it at his house. I went to the sims 3 website and tried to make an account to explain my situation and it wouldnt let me, then I went to the playstation website and tried to get some help but it was down for matinence. I have enough free space on my ps3 but it just wont install. This is my last resort so someone please help! I'm kind of frustrated.

Why won't my G3 powerbook (wallstreet II) boot from hard drive?

when i bought this powerbook it came with an os 8.5 disc and a bad hard drive. I replaced the hard drive with a new 80gb pata drive and partitioned the first 7gb for the os like it says to online. when i boot from cd it loads fine and the disk utility says the hard drive is good and I can install the os. It installs fine but when i restart i get the disc with question mark icon. I thought maybe it was the os so i got jaguar 10.2 and same thing. It installed but wont boot. the jaguar disc utillity says the hard drive is slave but i dont know how to change that or if it even matters. someone please help. dont suggest i get a new computer because i have a 2.4ghz macbook pro..... this is just a toy to play with

I never listen to top 40 radio of my own accord, but working downtown near trendy bars and clubs, I hear this song being played all the time. I can see how it's trying to have a good message, but I have a hard time believing that Jessie J and BOB don't care about money, yet are signed to major labels and have songs being played on pop radio. Windows anytime upgrade and Windows 7 Service Pack 1?

I purchased a windows anytime upgrade product activation key from windows 7 starter to home premium, however when i click upgrade on the download utility tool it just tells me that the key is not the right upgrade key for this version of windows. Phoned microsoft and they said that it could be to do with the windows 7 service pack 1 which is preventing the upgrade from happening and that it needs to be uninstalled, however i have discovered that it cant be if it came already preinstalled on the computer, Now im annoyed as that means I cant upgrade to home premium from starter, is there anyway around this please help!!!

okay so for the past month my tv has been flashing like a strobelight after like an hour of it being on. it seems to activate whn the tv goes black. Perminant Hair dye washing out. Help?

3 days ago, I had my hair dyed black with pink and blue in the fringe. The pink didnt look ue didnt take what so ever so I went back ihen the salon had better dye. That all went fine and he said the pink and blue will fade over time. Yesterday, I washed it. I was shocked to see the colour of the shampoo go blue. I rinced out and shampooed again. more blue. I'm wanting to study abroad in Estonia and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice. I know I need to be able to pay for insurance, the flight, boarding, classes, a residence permit, a student VISA and all the other things like food/utilities/etc. They offer semester programs, but I am told by many people that a semester isn't the best because as soon as you're used to everything, you're already days away from your plane trip home. My question is that is there any creditable places that offer student loans? The problem for me is that my parents will not cosign on anything for me as they're completely against me going overseas. How do I password protect a folder on a USB or external hard drive so that no one can view it on their PC?

If you have a hidden folder (using ANY software), once you copy it to your USB or an external hard drive, it seems anyone can just grab it and walk it over to their PC and view all your files (since it's no longer protected). I need a free and SIMPLE way other than something like truecrypt. Obviously, the windows folder hiding option doesn't work (plus I want to be able to see the folders but have them password-protected only). Also Winzip doesn't work since you can encrypt it with a password but then all they have to do is mouseover the folder and it pretty much shows a lot of the contents. So, prefer a software or utility that you can install ON the USB / external HDD itself and allow password-protection of specific folders instead of the entire drive. Thx

2011 BOB Duallie use with Newborn?

I just bought the 2011 BOB Sport Utility Duallie after being misinformed that it was compatible with the Chicco car seats. I've considered purchasing the Graco double car seat adapter for the stroller since I cannot return it now and getting a used Graco Snugride strictly for use with the stroller but as I have limited trunk space with this stroller as it is I am wondering if an infant body support wouldn't be a good compromise? I'm considering the Snuzzler Infant head and body support. For now the use of the stroller would be strictly walking on paved roads and going in and out of appts/stores. What do you all think? Suggestions? Would it be sufficient support for the gentle use I am planning or am I missing something?

What should someone expect as a care giver?

My daughter and her husband are care givers for an elderly woman and she lives in their home. The woman is her sister's mother in law. Her sister pays almost all of the rent on the house, but nothing on any utilities etc....My question is what is reasonable to ask for as far as days off, ( what time of the day should the day off begin and end?) When it is her day off the woman's son takes care of his mother at the house. They do not take her to their home. What would be reasonable to ask for? What about vacations etc....The son takes her for all doctor and dentist appointments. If I have overlooked anything please include. Hope someone can shed some light on this. How do we change a stupid law?

Today the squatters in my Mobile Home lied to the cops by saying they have never gotten an eviction paper from me. One delivered by the County cops, two hand delivered by my son and one I mailed to them. So now I have to take her to court to legally evict them. The stupid law protects terrible people like this family that take advantage of unsuspecting people who try to help out. There has to be a better way to get people out of my trailer. I think this law that says a friend can come stay with you for a week sleeping on the couch or even the floor. After one week that person is actually, legally a tenant and has every right in the home as the guys who pays the bills. Any suggestions on who to write to or e mail or call. And guess what, I end up with having to pay all her utility bills because she is on SSD and I am not allowed to sue her. Bills are already nearly 700 dollars and she could be there several more months depending how fast the Judge will be. Thanks.

Disc Check stuck. Same spot everytime?

Running Disc Check (via Tune-up utilities or control panel etc, doesn't matter what way). Water heater with no water pressure?

I'll be moving into a yurt within the year and while I have damned near everything figured out...hot water eludes me. Yes, I have a wood stove and heating water on it works, but I'm talking about a nice shower, you know? I already use those camping black bags that heat water by the sun, but it doesn't work too well out here in the Northwest. I've been looking at propane heaters, but they require water pressure, which I don't have at the moment. I collect rain water and am no where near city utilities. My drawing tablet doesnt occupy the whole screen?

Ok, so I have a Wacom Bamboo Tablet Model CTH-460. It doesnt have any problem, even in Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI. but when I used it in Manga Studio EX, the mouse pointer seems to occupy only a small space in the left top corner of my whole screen. It works perfectly fine with other software but it doesnt work well with Manga Studio. I remember my brother used it once with Manga Studio and it doesnt have any problem. Now that I am the one who`s gonna use it, it doesnt work anymore. I already tried removing preferences in the Preference Utility, but nothing changed. Is there a problem with my tablet? or maybe I changed the settings accidentally in Manga Studio, that`s why its not working well with my tablet? Can anyone help me fix this problem?

How do I find out if my builder an developer committed fraud?

I am a disabled Veteran with a service dog. I bought my home in a specific community because they advertised an amenity for dogs to run and play (legal reasons I have to phrase it that way). After the first year in this new development I began to ask how long it would be to have this amenity built. I got a location from a member of the development team. I checked the site plan, there was no mention of this amenity of the site plan. I was furious. I was now almost 3 yrs behind in applying for my successor service dog because you have to have a place for the dog to exercise - this is a requirement for most reputable organizations that train service dogs. The county repeatedly told me they had never seen a plan including a dog park in my community. So I thought this was clearly fraud. 2 weeks before court, the county changes its story and says that there is an amenity but it's in a different location than what I was told. The location was next to the soccer field. Interestly enough the site plan clearly shows the soccer field but does not show the amenity for dogs. I then spoke with the utilities company that controlled the transmission lines. The rep told me that he had worked on this community from the beginning and had never heard of this amenity. He said that the developer would've had to get permission to build anything through the tranamission lines. My attorney said we couldn't move forward and that I should settle. This was a couple years ago. I got word 2 days ago that the amenity had been built. I went to check it out. It is a fence around air on top of grass. There are no trees to shade the dogs, there are no benches for owners to sit at, there are no water bowls. There is simply a fence. I asked if they were going to install trees and was told they can't because of the overhead power lines. I think they lied, I think some county rep helped them lie. There's no way they would've planned to build this amenity where dogs can exercise without trees for shade and without the ability to ever have trees planted. I believe they scrambled and did this because if it wasn't on the site plan it would've clearly been deem fraud, so I think they did some underhanded revamping of the site plan and just stuck the fence up and said 'there you go.' How can I find out if there was actually deception here?

My computer got infected with a virus. I restored it to the only restore point I had and nothing. It won't allow my computer to connect to the internet, even though my wifi works fine on everything else. Everytime I open up Avast, Glary Utilities or Malwarebytes, it says the file can't be found or the scanner starts and then shuts down. It only happens for these programs & programs that check registry errors. Everytime I google something & click on a link, instead of the page I want, an ad pops up in its place. I've got enough saved from years because I'm a late student. I'm only half into my second year & nearly 30. Anyway, I should be able to handle tuition the rest of this year and next year. Next year's college is going to be $1,000 a class. Dorm rooms are $600/$700 a month. So considering that much money for a confined space, I'd rather have an apartment at the same price. But being nearly 30, I get a lot of crap about being part of the boomerang generation. I don't want to have to hold down two jobs to get an apartment again. Just one part time job, I figure for food- gas- and utilities. And I don't have collateral either. My focus is Forensic Science, Bachelors of Science, so I believe that may pay pretty well when I find a related job in that field. I could probably pay it all back eventually.

She had a cop come over one day & he bit the cop! They tend to get close with the owner & theregore feel it's the duty to protect...also known as the chinese fighting dog. Very smart & intelligent. I had a german shepard when I was a kid & we still have one of her off-spring which he is now 6 years old & one of the meanest dogs in our town & we've had animal control after him for years. Both breeds get protective of their territory & owners. It's not really about training them, it has to do with age. The less people you familarize them with it'll start the natural instincts to protect. You have to show them which people are oksy & which ones to be aware of. If your walking it then keep him close to your side & keep interference with others kept to a minimum.

Dell Dimension 4600 Problem?

Okay, so i have a dell dimension 4600, and whenever i try to start up the computer, i go to start windows xp or whatever its called, I'm not very good with computers to be honest :p so just bare with me. Anyways, the computer just restarts and goes back to starting again and gives me the options for safe mode, setup utility, startup windows etc., I've gone to all those options and it just restarts all of the time. I went to the bios and i cannot touch anything because the security has an admin password which unlocks all the options to access, and without the password, i cant access anything on the bios including a bootup to restart the whole entire computer back to normal, How can i fix this problem, because i cannot access my computer at all, Do i have to open up the computer and take out the pins from the password jumper and take out the battery from the motherboard, or what other options do i have? if i have to do option number one which i stated above, can someone please find me a documentation of how to take out the battery from the motherboard and taking out the pins from the password jumper.

I think my directv dvr is interfering with my internet connection when it's plugged into my router.Anyone help?

I have Cable Internet to a modem, then goes to a router which has my 2nd computer and the directv dvr plugged into it hardwired to those devices with ethernet cords, Internet was working fine until a few nights ago I went onto my second computer and deleted my avira antivirus and added Glary utilities, I was going to download some kind of antivirus from windows but gave me some kind of error so iI changed my mind, then the next day, my main computer didn't work, I did all troubleshooting, reset modem and comp and comp check cables, then called internet company they said that my router was bad, so I hooked up a different router and brand new ethernet cables also, on bottom left of pc the thing that shows you if its connected to internet, showed a ciorcle like it was trying to connect, then a red x, kept on doing this, disabled lan made sure the autamattically detec fileds were checked, then enabled, the internet worked for a minute, then kept with the circle and red x, when I opened naetwork and conenction center said public setting, so I changed to home network, worked for a few minutes, then stoped working, then everytime I would try something new, it kept going back to public network (which I don'yt want), I eventually hooked my main pc to computer, but I wanted to use it, and I heard somewhere dvr might mess internet up, so I unplugged dvr, and reset, now works fine, for a couple hours already, is there a way I can fix this? Is this whats causing the issue? Any ideas, I'd like to have access to internet on dvr also.I even restored pc to previous date before this happened and It didn't give me my antivirus back or it still didn't work.Thanks

Last yr, when I applied for SNAP Benefits, my fiance was making about 2080 before taxes and about 1600 after. Now he makes about the same amount, BUT he has been getting like an extra hr of over time each month. So now he makes about 1800 after. Because of this small change, they have cut how much we recieve by over half. As I said before, he really only gets like an extra hr of over time, but it's nothing dramatic. My question is why has our benefits been cut so dramatically. I have asked my local office and they keep seeing they use the gross pay and I understand that but just because they do that does not mean that our benefits should have decreased that much. She also told me that just bc we pay 600 a dollars per month utilities that the only standard excess deduction we get is 69. I am just so confused about the entire process. I don't understand how we could have gotten a certain amount in the beginning and now bc he gets a little bit extra OT, the amount decreased. We also have a 7 month old baby in the household whereas in the beginning we did not, (was still preg. w/ him obviously). I spent my first year of college in an apartment with a girl who I had absolutely nothing in common with. They give you random roommate matches (which sucks) if you can't find anyone to stay with. It was sad, we never spoke and would just stay in our rooms all day unless we went out on our own. Unfortunately the rent is over $800 plus utilities. Normally you split that with your roommate. But in all honesty I do not want a roommate at all this year. I've made my own friends who I love in college, but I really don't want to live with another stranger. I heard in some cases that if your not able to find a roomie, the owners of the complex will not make you pay the entire rent and utilities cost, and you only pay the amount that you usually split. They don't want to kick anyone out of the apartments if they do not have another person to live with because they want the money. Has anyone out there who is reading this been able to stay in college apartments by themselves with no roommates and only pay half the rent with the owners of the property taking care of the rest?
