Surgical tech and surgeon question hiv......?

I had a c-section on march 8 and while i was loopy on the table i heard someone say that they nicked themselves. I don't know if it was on the hand, leg, finger anything but i was wondering don't surgeons and surgical staff have to be tested for hiv? Howe long do you have to wait to get an hiv test?
