How can i back up my ps3 and my macbook pro (using time machine) on one hard drive?

I have a PS3 and a mid2009 MacBook Pro. I will be getting a 1tb external hard drive. I would like to know if (and how, if) i can back up both onto that one hard drive. does there need to be some partitioning? can my mac partition it for me? or can i just plug it in my mac, have time machine do it's thing, then after completion, plug it in my ps3 and have the ps3's back up utility get at it. is it possible? what are the steps? thank you!
