How do I make my sims 3 game Install?

Ok, about a week ago I bought the sims 3 on ps3 from my friend. I took it home and tried to play it. It got me to download a DLC and updates patch. So I downloaded it then it said it had to install the DLC/Updates and write game data. So I was installing it, then it got to an overall percent of 20 and a file percent of 45 and froze up for about 6 minutes. Then it skipped to overall percent of 100 and a file percent of 100 and froze again. Only this time it stayed frozen. So I left it on all night trying to get it to work and when I came back in the morning it still was frozen at 100 percent. So I turned it off and looked at my saved data utility and found out that the install data for the DLC and updates took up 1080 megabites. So I went to my friends house and looked at his saved data utility and found out that it was 4,500 megabites. So I tried to install it again and it didnt work. But it works fine when ever I play it at his house. I went to the sims 3 website and tried to make an account to explain my situation and it wouldnt let me, then I went to the playstation website and tried to get some help but it was down for matinence. I have enough free space on my ps3 but it just wont install. This is my last resort so someone please help! I'm kind of frustrated.
