OS is full? how to use DATA?

on my computer under Hard Disk Drives" it says OS (C:) is nearly full with 4.56 GB free of 74.5 GB, but next to it DATA (D:) is empty with 208 GB of 208 GB free. Howe do i make things save to DATA?
